The talk show “Urubuga rw'Itangazamakuru” (Club de la Presse) broadcasted this Sunday, December 29 in synergy by ten radios and 1 Television (TV Isango star) focused on “The  link  between Rwanda Vision 2020  and Africa Vision  2020-2060”

Vision 2020 is a government development program in Rwanda, launched in 2000 by Rwandan president Paul Kagame with the main objective of transforming the country into a knowledge-based middle-income country, thereby reducing poverty, health problems and making the nation united and democratic.

Main concerns risen;

• What is the lesson learnt from vision 2020 and how will it help to prepare vision 2060?

The invitees

 Dr BUCHANAN Ismaël / Professor at the university

NGENDAHIMANA Ladislas / Secretary General of RALGA (Rwanda Association of Local Government Authorities)

According to Dr BUCHANAN, vision 2020 goals and objectives have been achieved at a high percentage and argued that Africa should learn and follow this example to achieve its goals of vision 2060.

 For invitees, the best proposal is to make a plan or a call to action for all segments of African society to work together to build a prosperous and united Africa, based on common values and a common destiny.

The invitees said despite the step made in Africa, there is still a colonial mindset where Africans perceive their continent as area of hunger, diseases, poverty, etc and this pushed them to move to Western countries instead of working together to develop Africa.

The other area of improvement highlighted is leadership in Africa where corruption and bad governance are still rampant in some African countries.

The invitees concluded that solution on Africa development is in hands of Africans   themselves   and they are the first to make it reliable instead of waiting for external support.
